Sounds like a great idea. The anthropology or ethnography of bodily practices generally is sorely lacking. This has always intrigued me as so many ritual practices and rites involve dance. I imagine there are anthropologists out there doing something similar to what you are interested in. This is always the best place to start as academics are always eager to talk to someone interested i their work - especially work that the braoder anthro community may not embrace. It is amazing how helpful academics can be over the internet - not only references but the advice from someone who has almost invariably encounter similar problems to you.
I will ask around my department if there is anyone that I can refer you to.
